Why does about 40 per cent of the US population believe so fervently in Trump?
Like 1930’s Germany, the US is largely a nation of working poor. This fervent belief in Trump is compounded by four factors.
- A poor education system has left many Americans suffering from ignorance.
- They are subjected to a constant barrage of Trump supporting right-wing media from personalities like Alex Jones, Steve Bannon and many others on TV radio and the newspapers. A recent poll showed 31 Percent of all Americans trust Fox news more than any other news source.
- They are also victims of one of human nature’s strongest needs, the need to belong.
- Lastly, human nature’s wish for a saviour when suffering is overwhelming, this has made them very vulnerable to a demagogue like Trump. When it comes to mob psychology Trump is a master, who also ticks all the boxes to controlling his followers in a personality cult.The group is focused on a living leader, a self-proclaimed “chosen one,” which Trump has repeatedly claimed to be.
Members display excessively zealous, unquestioning loyalty.
The leader and group are preoccupied with bringing in new members. Questioning, doubt or any criticism or dissent is actively punished. Trump is constantly punishing anyone and everyone who doesn’t agree with him and even fires people who publish the facts.
His far-right infantry of Christian-nationalists and groups like the Proud Boys, Oath Keepers and militias also threaten people who criticize him. The leader constantly fleeces his flock for money.
There is no point in trying to convince these people with the facts or the truth. Even concrete scientific facts don’t matter. They are told that science is part of the deep state conspiracy. Scientific facts are a threat to authoritarians like Trump. That is why science is under attack, particularly climate science.
Only when the damage is done and the cult collapses will they change.
Trump’s Oligarchs are well aware of the situation and exploit it in their interests.
