Brussels FIPA operation sees 26 arrests, 19 drug cases, 89 violations

Brussels (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – Brussels police carried out a Full Integrated Police Action (FIPA) involving 200+ officers, resulting in 16 administrative and 10 judicial arrests, 19 drug reports, 89 traffic offences, and 15 illegal residence reports.

As VRT News reported, police carried out a large operation in Brussels on Thursday, Oct 30, 2025, to tackle drug trafficking in the city. The action, called a Full Integrated Police Action (FIPA), ran from noon until midnight and focused on several well-known hotspots linked to drug crime.

More than 200 officers took part from the 6 local police zones, the Federal Railway Police, and other federal support units. They were supported by the Brussels Public Prosecutor’s Office, the STIB transport company, and the Immigration Office. Officers carried out identity checks, vehicle inspections, and targeted patrols in problem areas.

How many arrests and reports resulted from the Brussels FIPA operation?

The federal police confirmed that the operation led to 16 administrative arrests and 10 judicial arrests. Police also recorded 19 reports for drug offences and 3 for weapons possession. Similar FIPA actions are carried out regularly in Brussels and other major cities to deliver quick results and collect information for longer investigations into organised crime.

During the police operation in Brussels, officers also found a large number of traffic and administrative violations. The federal police reported 89 traffic offence reports, including speeding, careless driving, and vehicle safety issues. Among these, 6 drivers were caught under the influence of alcohol, and 2 drivers were under the influence of drugs.

During the same operation, police issued 57 immediate fines for traffic violations and confiscated 5 tuned scooters that did not meet safety or technical standards. Officers also drew up 15 reports for illegal residence, involving people without valid documents found during identity checks.

Belgium has carried out large-scale police operations in Brussels for years to fight organised crime and drug trafficking. The Full Integrated Police Actions (FIPA) were introduced as part of police reforms in 2001 that created closer cooperation between local and federal police. In September 2025, the government announced plans to strengthen these actions, including the use of federal support and targeted operations in high-risk areas.
