Philosopher Aristotle believed in the golden mean—between two extremes lies perfection. Perhaps, Demi Moore (and her nail artist, Zola Ganzorigt) are followers of this rule, too, because their latest collaboration, seen at The New Yorker Festival, is exactly that: a beauty version of the golden mean. How could that be possible, you ask? Well it provides both minimalism and drama at the exact same time.

To get the look, Ganzorigt filed Moore’s ultra-long nails into square shapes with pointed corners. The square nail—once thought of as a holdover from suburban nail salons—has regained popularity in a variety of lengths after beauty trendestters like Kendall Jenner and Cynthia Erivo sported the look.
From there, Ganzorigt painted on two coats of OPI’s Bare My Soul (a sheer pink-nude polish) to create an ultra-shiny soap nail effect. Beloved by Victoria Beckham, Kylie Jenner, and Selena Gomez, soap nails are meant to look nearly neutral—but with a clean-girl finish that looks just like a fresh bar of Glossier soap.
Moore opting to go XXL in length—and sharp in shape—is what gives us the maximal moment. The neutral, barely-there sheer color, on the other hand, is a taste of minimal. Apparently, you can have the best of both worlds.
