There were matches across Spain’s La Liga, Italy’s Serie A, the German Bundesliga and Ligue 1 in France on Sunday.

Among the teams in action, Bayer Leverkusen and Stuttgart were hoping to keep in the race behind runaway German leaders Bayern Munich.

Roma were also hoping to beat beleaguered Juventus and move level with Italian leaders and reigning champions Napoli.

La Liga results today

Osasuna vs Celta Vigo: Duran winner

Celta Vigo moved level on points with Osasuna and a point above the relegation zone with a seesaw 3-2 away win.

Ferran Jutgla put Celta ahead from the edge of the box but Ante Budimir scored a penalty and headed in a corner to put the hosts 2-1 ahead at the break.

Jutgla met a corner to equalise before Budimir’s spot kick hit the crossbar. Pablo Duran scored the winner three minutes from time, chipping goalkeeper Sergio Herrera.

Rayo Vallecano vs Alaves: Alemao joy

Brazilian forward Alemao headed the only goal of the game in the 91st minute to lift Rayo Vallecano to seventh with their fourth win of the season.

In a chance-filled contest, substitute Isi Palazon shot against a post during the second half before Alemao pounced from Pep Chavarria’s cross.

“I’ve been wanting this moment so much and it’s here,” Alemao said after his first top-flight goal. “It’s an incredible feeling.”

Mallorca vs Levante: Point apiece

Pablo Maffeo curled in from outside the box with 11 minutes remaining to give Mallorca a 1-1 draw at home to Levante, who took the lead when Etta Eyong pounced inside the box to slot in the 22nd-minute opener.

Jose Luis Morales could have earned Levante victory deep into second-half added time but was denied from close range by an excellent Leo Roman save.

Levante are unbeaten in four away games and join Mallorca in being above the relegation zone on goal difference.

Lazio vs Juventus: Basic bags winner

Toma Basic capitalised on a poor backpass by Jonathan David to score the ninth-minute winner as Lazio beat Juventus 1-0 to go 10th, a point behind their opponents.

Juve have now lost their last three matches in all competitions, gone eight without a win and failed to score in more than six-and-a-half hours of football, intensifying the pressure on manager Igor Tudor.

“We get to the penalty area and then don’t put the ball in the net,” Tudor told DAZN Italia, via Gianluca Di Marzio.

“We also keep telling ourselves ‘don’t make mistakes’, but there is always a mistake and we lose games. We feel terrible, but we have to stick together.

“I don’t care about my future. I have to be clear-headed and aware of the present .”

Sassuolo vs Roma: Dybala decisive

Paulo Dybala scored his first Serie A goal of the season in the 16th minute to send Roma joint-top alongside the reigning champion.

Dybala converted after teeing up Bryan Cristante for a shot that was parried to the Argentina forward by goalkeeper Arijanet Muric.

Roma have won all four of their away games this season and ended a two-match losing run in all competitions with the victory, leaving Sassuolo 13th.

Torino vs Genoa: Maripan strikes late

Guillermo Maripan’s 90th-minute half-volley gave 12th-placed Torino a 2-1 comeback win against bottom sdide Genoa.

Poor defending accounted for the first two goals, Morten Thorsby striking from close range in the eighth minute for the visitors

Stefano Sabelli’s 63rd-minute own goal started the comeback. Genoa are two points from safety.

Verona vs Cagliari: Felici caps comeback

Fourth-bottom Verona are still seeking their first win of the season after spuring a two-goal lead in a 2-2 draw with 14th-placed Cagliari.

Roberto Gagliardini headed the hosts in front and Suat Serdar hit the crossbar for Cagliari before Gift Orban’s tap-in as part of a counter-attack in the 59th minute.

Riyad Idrissi’s firm strike halved the deficit 13 minutes from time and Mattia Felici scored a stylish 92nd-minute equaliser after a surging run.

Fiorentina vs Bologna: Kean penalty heroics

Fiorentina are without a win and in the relegation zone but rescued a point through second-half penalties by Albert Gudmondsson and, in the 94th minute, Moise Kean to earn a 2-2 draw against Bologna.

Santiago Castro’s sublime volley gave Bologna a first-half opener and Nicolo Cambiaghi struck from close range seven minutes after the break for the visitors, who had Emil Holm dismissed for a second booking with seven minutes remaining.

The fifth-placed Red and Blues are unbeaten in six matches in Serie A.

Bayer Leverkusen vs Freiburg: Hosts triumph

Fifth-placed Leverkusen are four points clear of sixth-placed Eintracht Frankfurt and seven behind Bayern after winning 2-0 against Freiburg, who are 11th and had centre-back Philipp Lienhart sent off for a second caution in the 75th minute.

Ernest Poku struck an excellent 22nd-minute opener from distance, with Edmond Tapsoba heading the second from Aleix Garcia’s cross in the 52nd minute.

Leverkusen are now unbeaten in seven domestic games and have won their last three, recovering from their 7-2 home defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Stuttgart vs Mainz: Undav returns

Stuttgart are a point above Leverkusen in third after earning a fifth consecutive league win with a 2-1 victory over 16th-placed Mainz.

Nadiem Amiri gave Mainz confidence of avoiding a fourth straight top-flight defeat by converting a 41st-minute penalty, but Chris Fuhrich’s spectacular strike during first-half added time restored parity.

Making his first start since August following injury, former Brighton & Hove Albion striker Deniz Undav collected goalkeeper Alexander Nubel’s pass and chipped in the 80th-minute winner.

Lille vs Metz: LOSC cruise

Felix Correia scored in either half as a 6-1 win over Metz put Lille three points behind leaders PSG in fifth.

Hamza Igamane, Romain Perraud, Benjamin Andre and Hakon Haraldsson also scored, as did Ibou Sane in the 95th minute for the visitors.

Winless Metz are the only team not to have recorded at least two victories in Ligue 1 this season and are six points from safety with a significant goal inferiority.

Lyon vs Strasbourg: Moreira magic

Fourth-placed Lyon are a point above Lille after coming from behind to win 2-1 against seventh-placed Strasbourg.

Joaquin Panichelli gave the away side a 25th-minute lead but Ismael Doukoure’s own goal drew OL level six minutes later.

Doukoure received a straight red card for a tackle before Afonso Moreira scored the decisive 91st-minute goal.

Angers vs Lorient: Hosts end drought

Angers are two points above the relegation zone after ending a seven-match winless run with a 2-0 victory over Lorient.

Prosper Peter broke the deadlock in the 16th minute and Sidiki Cherif sealed the result in the 59th minute to leave Lorient on one point from five away games this season.

Les Merlus dominated possession and had 13 of the 20 attempts between the teams but are a point above the bottom two.

Auxerre vs Le Havre: Toure takes points

Only Metz have a worse record than Auxerre’s total of six defeats after the second-bottom side lost 1-0 against Le Havre, who are two points above them.

Abdoulaye Toure’s 47th-minute winner gave the visitors their second victory of the season and their first on the road.

Le Havre also ended their five-match wait for a win as Le Club Doyen recovered from their 6-2 defeat at Marseille eight days earlier.

Rennes vs Nice: Diop, Clauss score

Nice earned successive league wins and are unbeaten in four in the top flight after a 2-1 win at Rennes, who are 10th.

Sofiane Diop and Jonathan Clauss gave the hosts a 2-0 half-time lead before 19-year-old Moroccan defender Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal replied.

While Nice are eighth, Rennes’ six-match unbeaten run – five of which were draws – came to an end despite Habib Beye’s team having eight of the 11 attempts.
