Voters across the Republic of Ireland are casting their ballots to elect the country’s next president, who will succeed current head of state Michael D. Higgins as Ireland’s 10th president. The Director of Research at the Institute of International and European Affairs in Dublin, Dr. Barry Colfer, gives his insights on this election.
