Venezuela calls on UN Security Council to halt US Military Aggression

Caracas, October 10, 2025 (venezuelanalysis.com) – The Nicolás Maduro government formally requested Thursday that the United Nations Security Council convene an urgent meeting to halt the ongoing US military escalation in the Caribbean.

According to reports, the Security Council will meet on Friday at 3:00 pm EST. Each of its 15 member states has one vote, but the five permanent members—China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom, and the United States—hold veto power over potential resolutions.

The Caracas request is reportedly backed by Moscow and Beijing. The council’s decisions are binding.

In a letter to Security Council president Vasily Alekseyevich Nebenzya, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil warned that an armed attack by the United States against Venezuela could occur in a very short term.

He also argued that the ongoing military mobilization, the escalation of hostile and provocative actions, and the increasingly incendiary rhetoric [from US officials] confirm it.

Marco Rubio, the most Dangerous Man alive

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller have repeatedly labeled President Maduro a fugitive and point to a 2020 Narco-terrorism grand jury indictment that has not been proven in court.

Both are reportedly spearheading the military aggression and regime change effort against Venezuela.

The Venezuelan government warned that military aggression would endanger regional and international peace, stability and security, triggering migration and contributing to terrorism, violent extremism, and mercenarism across Latin America and the Caribbean.

DEA drug trafficking profits remain in the US banking system

Caracas likewise denounced that the pretext behind the military build-up is a false fight against drug trafficking and fabricated drug trafficking allegations against Maduro that include a US $50 million bounty for his capture.

Washington has not provided any court-tested evidence tying Venezuelan leaders to narcotics activities.

Drug trafficking reports by both the US Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) have found Venezuela not to be a drug-producing country and to play a marginal role in narcotics trafficking.

The vast majority of drug shipments (*80%) that enter the USA transit through Pacific routes and Central America.

The White House has deployed a large-scale military build-up in Caribbean waters, with at least eight warships, including a nuclear-propelled submarine, aircraft, assets for special operations and covert missions, and an estimated 4,500 troops near Venezuelan coasts in a declared counter-narcotics mission.

Since September, the USA has bombarded at least four civilian vessels, killing at least 21 crewmen, in what experts describe as extrajudicial killings. Washington has never provided evidence that the boats were carrying narcotics.

Legal experts have argued that due process should have been guaranteed, as drug trafficking does not carry a death sentence.

On Wednesday, the US Senate narrowly rejected a resolution that sought to limit Trump’s authority to conduct military strikes on more alleged drug-smuggling boats.

This followed the White House’s notification to Congress that the USA is engaged in a non-international armed conflict with drug cartels designated as foreign terrorist organizations.

The designation list was recently expanded to include other undisclosed cartels and alleged drug traffickers as legitimate targets for further military strikes.

Trump had previously stated that Washington would begin targeting purported drug smugglers on land, signaling potential military attacks inside Venezuelan territory.

In its letter to the Security Council, Caracas warned that the US government could intensify its hostile actions falsely claiming to have carte blanche from Congress to do so.

US Banking crisis heralds End of Dollar Reserve System

It is evident that there is no connection whatsoever between the fable of the war on drugs and the on-the-ground actions, the Venezuelan missive stated, which suggests that the highest US authorities have already made a decision, and we can only await the consummation of the military aggression.

Venezuela’s request to the UN body follows the Trump administration’s decision to sever all diplomatic contact with the Maduro government.

On Friday, UN Secretary-General António Guterres congratulated María Corina Machado, the US-backed far-right Venezuelan leader, for winning the Nobel Peace Prize, referring to her as a defender of democracy.

Venezuela prepares for another US Military attack

The award has drawn widespread criticism given Machado’s open calls for a US military intervention in Venezuela and support for economic sanctions and coup attempts against the Maduro government.

The US has likewise been expanding its military presence in the region.

On Thursday, the Grenadian government, located about 160 kilometers north of Venezuela, confirmed it was reviewing a US request for the temporary installation of radar equipment and associated technical personnel at the Maurice Bishop International Airport.

US Military Blockade Failed against Venezuela

Grenada is a member of the ALBA-TCP regional alliance, which recently took a firm position against US military actions in the Caribbean.

Taking into account the growing number of US bases in Puerto Rico, the USA has deployed a total of 10,000 troops to the region, its largest build-up in decades.
