Sarajevo, (Fena) – The Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina has adopted the Reform Agenda, a document that is a prerequisite for accessing funds from the Growth Plan for the Western Balkans, a European Union program worth six billion euros. If the document is approved in Brussels, BiH could receive 917 million euros, although it has already lost 108 million due to delays.
The agenda contains 114 measures divided into four areas: green and digital transition, private sector development, human capital, and the rule of law. Among the key reforms are the introduction of the 5G network, the electricity law, harmonization of business regulations, digitalization of education, maternity leave law, and strengthening the judiciary and fighting corruption.
Measures related to the Constitutional Court and the Council for State Aid have been particularly softened to overcome political blockages. The deadline for most measures is the end of 2025, while the European Commission will assess progress every six months. (30.09.)
The European Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, welcomed the adoption of the agreed text of the Reform Agenda at the meeting of the Council of Ministers of BiH.
– Today I am very happy. Bosnia and Herzegovina has shown the much-needed unity. We have a Reform Agenda! – Kos wrote on X.
According to her, this is an important step towards unlocking the EU Growth Plan.
– Together we can achieve: better roads, cheaper energy, faster internet, no fees for money transactions and roaming – she wrote.
