As VRT News reported, police in Tongeren-Borgloon, in the province of Limburg, Belgium, discovered a large cannabis plantation during raids on Monday, Sep 29, 2025. The operation was led by the Haspengouw police zone together with the special assistance team of the Limburg Capital Region police zone.
3 houses were searched in Tongeren-Borgloon and Wellen as part of an ongoing investigation into illegal cannabis cultivation. At a property in Hopertingen, authorities found around 700 cannabis plants or cuttings. The plantation was built in a professional manner and occupied the attic and parts of the first floor.

3 people were in the house when the raid took place. Police seized the plants and all equipment used for growing cannabis. Investigators are working to identify the roles of the people involved. Forensic checks on the seized plants and equipment will provide further information.
Civil protection teams and Fluvius spent several hours securing and clearing a house after a police operation in Limburg. During the search, authorities discovered signs of power theft at the property. Police also seized around €45,000 in cash and had 2 vehicles towed.
5 people were arrested in connection with the case. All the suspects are of Albanian descent or nationality. They were brought before an investigating judge, who decided to detain 4 of them. 1 suspect was released on bail. Police said the arrests are part of a larger effort to fight organised cannabis cultivation and other criminal activity in the region.
