November is peak shoulder season: The weather is a bit wishy-washy (but you can get really lucky), crowds are small nearly everywhere and prices are often the lowest they’ll be all year for many destinations. It is an ideal time to travel in many ways, if you’re willing to risk less-than-ideal weather in some places.
It’s also Thanksgiving in the U.S., and if you are not obligated to visit family, you can enjoy a wonderful five-day vacation without missing any school or work. And for those who love Christmas markets and lights, several spots start their displays at the end of the month.
Here are 10 great destinations to consider for your November getaway.
Marrakech and the Atlas Mountains, Morocco

Two years ago, Marrakech and the surrounding Atlas Mountains suffered a 6.8 magnitude earthquake that rattled the region, damaging many riads in Marrakech’s ancient Medina and the city’s fragile mountain properties. The region is officially back on its feet, and the cooler November weather is ideal for hiking in the Atlas Mountains.
While a few hotels had to close after the quake, like the Virgin Limited Edition Kasbah Tamadot, they have reopened. Kasbah Tamadot used the closure to build new riad-style rooms and a new restaurant, and to renovate the rest of the property (rates from $577 or 140,000 Virgin Red points per night).
Other hotels have opened for the first time, including the gorgeous riads Jnane Rumi, Izza and Riad Romeo. Most of the city’s luxury hotels bookable with points were unaffected, including the Park Hyatt Marrakech, which opened last year (rates from $594 or 25,000 World of Hyatt points per night).
Nov. 18 is Morocco’s Independence Day, while Nov. 1–3 brings the Marrakech Coffee & Tea Festival to the city, with more than 400 exhibitors and various workshops and classes. The Marrakech International Film Festival runs from Nov. 28 to Dec. 6.
TPG tip: Marrakech has increased seasonal direct flight access, including a direct flight from Newark on United Airlines, which launched last year, and from Atlanta on Delta Air Lines, which debuts Oct. 25.
London

November may not be the best time of year to visit London in terms of weather, but it is a great time to go for festivals and culture. Plus, the deals on flights and hotels make dealing with the drizzle worth it.

Pay a visit to the National Gallery, which reopened its main entrance and the Sainsbury Wing in May, after a two-year closure, as part of its 200th birthday celebrations. Nov. 5 is Bonfire Night, which commemorates the foiling of the Gunpowder Plot of 1605 with fireworks and bonfires. Nov. 8 is the Lord Mayor’s Show, which brings parades and processions that take over the city. And the London Jazz Festival runs from Nov. 14 to 23.
You can also celebrate Christmas in London early: Christmas at Kew, the beloved light show at Kew Gardens, opens Nov. 14; Hogwarts in the Snow at Warner Bros. Studio Tour London starts Nov. 15; and Hyde Park Winter Wonderland begins Nov. 21.
TPG tip: There are many exciting new hotels worth checking out this fall. Use your Marriott Bonvoy points at Sir Devonshire Square Hotel London, which opened Sept. 15 as a member of Design Hotels. Rates start at $495 or 76,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night.
Plus, the long-anticipated The Chancery Rosewood opened in September inside the Eero Saarinen-designed former U.S. embassy, and The Newman will open in Fitzrovia this fall and is bookable with I Prefer Hotel Rewards points.
Oaxaca, Mexico

Oaxaca’s celebration of Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is legendary, especially in Oaxaca City, where festivities and commemorations take place every year from Oct. 31 to Nov. 2. Expect elaborate costumes, parades, street festivals, cemetery and altar visits, and plenty of music, food and drinks.
After the city festivities, plan to stay at one of the region’s new hotels. Hotel Humano, a member of Design Hotels, opened last year along Playa Zicatela in Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca’s resort town (rates from $240 or 61,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night). Boutique hotel Casa Yati opened in Ventanilla on the beach this summer, and La Valise Mazunte is a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World with just six suites and a villa (rates from $400 or 130,000 Hilton Honors points per night).
TPG tip: You can fly directly to Puerto Escondido on United Airlines’ new Houston-to-Puerto Escondido route, which debuted earlier in 2025. American Airlines loyalists will want to wait until December, when the airline launches its direct flights to Puerto Escondido from Dallas-Fort Worth.
Bangkok

November is the very beginning of the dry season in Thailand, so it’s a good time to beat the winter crowds and score good airfare and hotel pricing. Nov. 6 is Loy Krathong, the beautiful floating lantern festival that lights up the Bangkok waterways on the night of the full moon in the 12th month of the Thai lunar calendar. Various events happen along the Chao Phraya River, in public parks and at cultural landmarks.
The city, which has gained more exposure since the third season of “The White Lotus” aired earlier this year, has several new luxury hotels: Aman Nai Lert Bangkok opened in April, and Grand Nikko Bangkok Sathorn from Japanese brand Okura Nikko Hotels will open before the end of the year. The Fairmont Bangkok Sukhumvit is slated to open in November.
While you’re there, eat at the latest restaurant by chef Pichaya “Pam” Soontornyanakij, who was named the World’s Best Female Chef 2025 by the 50 Best organization. Her newest restaurant, Khao San Sek, is down the road from her first restaurant, Potong, and focuses on five foundation ingredients: rice, fish sauce, palm sugar, chili and coconut.
TPG tip: In late October, United Airlines will launch a new daily flight to Bangkok via Hong Kong from Los Angeles and San Francisco, making it the only domestic airline to offer a daily one-stop flight to Bangkok from the U.S.
The Amazon, Brazil

Looking for an adventure? November is the last month of the dry season to visit the Amazon, so there’s still time to squeeze in an adventure before the end of the year. If colorful birds, jaguars, river dolphins and caiman sightings aren’t enough for you, the first-ever Global Citizen music festival in the Amazon, in Belem, is Nov. 1. Global Citizen Festival Amazonia brings Brazilian music stars Anitta, Seu Jorge and Gaby Amarantos and Coldplay’s Chris Martin together with Indigenous leaders to amplify climate action campaigns.
TPG tip: Avianca flies to Belem via Bogota, Colombia, from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), and LATAM flies there through Sao Paulo/Guarulhos International Airport (GRU). Book a room at Ibis Styles Belem Batista Campos ($67 per night) or Grand Mercure Belem do Para ($474 per night). Both are members of Accor Live Limitless.
St. Barts

If you’ve dreamed of a vacation in St. Barts but thought you couldn’t afford it, November may be the best time to visit the gorgeous Caribbean island. You’ll enjoy warm weather, beat the winter crowds and enjoy better prices on hotels and flights. And while the French island is known for always having excellent food, November brings even more culinary star power to the isle.
The Saint-Barth Gourmet Festival is Nov. 4-9 and features five chefs from Michelin-starred restaurants, including the head chef of Restaurant Gordon Ramsay in residency at Hotel Rosewood Le Guanahani and the head chef of L’Espadon, Ritz-Paris cooking at Hotel Le Barthelemy.
From Nov. 10-16, the Caribbean Rum Awards has the world’s best rhum agricoles, XO blends and collector bottles with classes, tastings, cocktail showcases and blind-tasting competitions.
TPG tip: Getting to St. Barts can be a bit of a journey if you don’t have a private jet (ahem), but starting Oct. 13, there will be one more option: Cape Air will fly twice daily from well-connected St. Thomas.
Western Australia

Looking to the other hemisphere is always a good idea, and in Australia, they’re experiencing the other shoulder season: spring. In Western Australia, this means gorgeous wildflowers and some excellent festivals worth traveling for.
The West Test Summer Fest (Nov. 22–26) is a cricket festival in Perth where Australia plays multiple matches against rivals India, and there are various other sports games and festivities, including music, food, fan experiences and cultural moments.
Foodies should plan to attend the world-renowned Pair’d Margaret River Region food and wine festival (Nov. 20-23), which brings world-class wine, food and music to the Margaret River region. This year’s lineup includes chefs Francis Mallmann, Silvia Colloca and Dave Pynt, as well as wine writer Erin Larkin and DJs Mendy Indigo and Alex Dimitriades.
The Perth International Jazz Festival (Oct. 28-Nov. 2) includes sets by five-time Grammy Award-winner Samara Joy, Lettuce and the Bill Frisell Trio, as well as workshops, a jazz picnic, film screenings and more.
TPG tip: The Garde Hotel, which opened in September inside Fremantle’s old police headquarters, is a boutique hotel with 83 rooms, two new restaurants and a takeover of the previously existing 23 Warders Hotel cottages.
Palm Springs, California

Some November trips require compromising on the weather, but not in the desert. Palm Springs in November is ideal: With a daytime high of 79 degrees Fahrenheit and a low of 52 degrees Fahrenheit at night, you’ll still avoid its peak tourist months, which begin in January. It’s also ideal weather to hike in nearby Joshua Tree National Park.
Though most Pride events occur in June, the Palm Springs Pride Festival is a fall event. This year, it runs from Nov. 6-9, with the big parade on the final day. Expect live music, comedy, local vendors and artists, and plenty of food and drink stands in several areas across the downtown area. The Sunset Music and Comedy Festival runs concurrently each night at the Agua Caliente Casino.

TPG tip: If you are a World of Hyatt loyalist, the Thompson Palm Springs opened at the end of last year and has rates from $311 or 21,000 points per night. There are a few newer boutique hotels to check out, too. The Casa Palma has airy guest rooms, mountain views, and tennis and pickleball courts. Outside Joshua Tree National Park, the design-forward Reset Hotel is the first new hotel to open in the desert in 15 years.
Florence, Italy

Florence in summer can be a hot, crowded mess, but come November, there are fewer crowds and mild weather (although rain is likely). It’s also truffle-hunting season in Tuscany.
Film lovers should mark Nov. 1-9 for the Festival dei Popoli, Europe’s oldest international documentary film festival. And Nov. 30 brings runners from around the world to the Estra Firenze Marathon. Finally, most Christmas markets open around the city in the last week of November.
Trenitalia in Tuscany unveiled a new electric train this summer. It has six two-tier carriages with more than 700 seats, a revamped air conditioning and heating system, USB sockets and charging points, plus dedicated spaces for e-bike recharging, strollers and accessible seating. There’s also a new way to pay for the train throughout Tuscany, with a new speedy ticket purchasing system, Tap&Tap, that lets you tap credit cards, smartphones and smartwatches.
TPG tip: In July, the W Florence opened with 119 rooms in the heart of the city as the brand’s second hotel in Italy (rates from $507 or 70,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night). In March, the city welcomed both The Hoxton Florence and Collegio alla Querce, Auberge Resorts Collection, which opened as the first Auberge in Italy. And, over at the Four Seasons Hotel Firenze, there are two new restaurants: Onde, a seafood restaurant, and Berni, an all-day cafe and vermouth bar.
Las Vegas

Rev your engines for the Las Vegas Grand Prix, when Formula 1 racing comes to Sin City from Nov. 20-22.
Outside the hugely popular event, you can find some hotel and flight deals this November. And there’s still plenty to do in November beyond F1. At the Sphere, you can catch the new 4D version of “The Wizard of Oz” daily throughout the month, or see the Eagles live Nov. 1, 7 or 8.
Christmas also starts early in Vegas on Nov. 6, when the 3-acre Cactus Garden at Ethel M Chocolate Factory opens its annual lights show, and Nov. 15 at the Bellagio Conservatory, where they pull out all the stops to create a lit-up floral winter wonderland.
Foodies should also be excited. The Venetian has unveiled some excellent additions to its already stellar restaurant lineup. Korean steakhouse Cote will open in October, and Bazaar Meat by José Andrés opened in September. This summer, the hotel debuted its buzzy new food hall, Via Via, which is home to outposts of Los Angeles’ Howlin’ Rays; New Orleans’ Turkey & the Wolf; New York’s Ivan Ramen and Scarr’s Pizza; and Florence, Italy’s All’Antico Vinaio, plus a cocktail spot called Close Company by Death & Co.
TPG tip: Fly in style to Vegas from Orlando International Airport (MCO) in JetBlue’s premium Mint service, which will be offered on this route for the first time with two daily flights starting Oct. 30.
