Coventry v Birmingham saw cheeky chants from the home fans, damaged toilets in the away end, and Chris Davies makes a refereeing complaint.
Brandon Thomas-Asante made it 1-0 Coventry on 16 minutes for his third goal of the season, then Birmingham’s Jack Robinson was shown a red card before half time.
An own goal from Bright Osayi-Samuel just minutes into the second half made it 2-0 to the hosts, deflecting it, Ryan Allsop trying to keep it out, the ball only just fully over the line.
With just over 10 minutes to go, Victor Torp made it 3-0, goalkeeper Chris Rushworth sent it forward, Ryan Allsop made a block but Torp made no mistake to get his fifth of this season.
Following Saturday’s action, Coventry sit 2nd in the Championship with 13 points from 7 games, and remain unbeaten. Birmingham are 11th with 10 points from the same amount of games played.
Throughout the game, a number of songs could be heard ringing around the CBS Arena, Coventry fans heard ole’ing every pass around Birmingham players.
Coventry also chanted: “45 Quid and you’re 3 nil down”, “All that money and you’re fucking shit!”, “You’ve seen the City now fuck off home” and, “Birmingham get battered, everywhere they go!”.

Birmingham’s Chris Davies: “First half an hour, I thought the game was very tight. I thought there was very little in it. I thought we looked a threat.
“We conceded a goal from a long throw that we should have done better on but I could see as the half went on that we were going to grow even more into the game.
“Then the two yellow cards obviously impacted where we went from there – I thought they were harsh.
“We’ve had a game today where the decisive moment has come from us losing a player and the frustration for me is that we’ve had multiple examples of their players kicking the ball away in the first half and not receiving cautions.
“When you get one yellow card, you always run the risk. If you kick a ball away blatantly in front of the referee and don’t get booked for it, you can carry on doing it.
“We’re down a player, but the first 20-25 minutes, if we don’t concede a goal it’s basically the number one objective.
“Stay solid and as the game wears on we’ll get opportunities and the pressure will turn a little bit.
“But to concede that goal in the fashion that we did was very, very disappointing at that time because all we had to do was stay solid and wait until the final stages.”
Davies told BBC Radio WM: “It was a tough afternoon. We had a change in the warm-up with an injury, which isn’t ideal, it limits you a little bit.
“We started the game OK, we were well in the game with nothing between the teams, but the red card has completely changed the game.
“It’s harsh to lose a player for those two challenges and what’s made it more frustrating for me, and I made the point just now [to the referee] that their players were kicking the ball away from all our quick free-kicks, and if we’re going to lose a game based on losing a player to two yellow cards what we have to see is rules being adhered to by officials.
“All I want is consistency across the board to give us a chance.”
Coventry’s Frank Lampard: “The performance was outstanding, every part of the game – 11 vs 11, 11 vs 10, the focus of the group, the work ethic, the desire to compete in challenges and duels against a strong team.
“We knew we had to compete in this game because they’re physically good and we matched that completely.
“A high-pressing team, but we made it hard for them to press us and we could play at good times and get control of the game.
“Then when they went down to 10 men, we played deep in their half and kept doing the right things, getting it down the sides and we got our goals.
“Lots of things we had to manage, the lads managed it well on the pitch.
“When we’re winning the ball back we’re counter pressing and we’re going at speed. There’s a feeling that when there’s a moment, we have to be at it and ready to go.
“Brandon (Thomas-Asante) is really hungry and sharp at the minute. He smelt it and he gets a good goal.
“If you want to succeed in this league you have to have big physicality and capacity. Since we’ve been in, that’s one of the things we’ve worked on a lot and it’s really grown.”
Here’s how fans reacted after Coventry mock Birmingham with cheeky chants as Sky Blues go 7 games unbeaten in the league…
@2022BenjiC: Fair play to you. Doing a 90 minute silent protest regarding ticket prices. Was fantastic to hear
@pythaginboots: What was Davies thinking today? And indeed, last week? Playing Dimi out of position to accomodate a very green loanee is insane. The fact that this also forced Roberts, arguably our most dangerous/creative player, makes it even more mental. To do it two games in a row, when it didn’t work against Swansea (Roberts playing a starring role with actual creativity off the bench) is dropping a huge clanger. How is it that the likes of Yokoyama (pacy, flair etc) last year get 0 look in, Kanya this year, and yet an 18 year old Liverpool kid is straight into our line up, forcing Gray out of position to do so? I get the off the ball/pressing arguments, but man Blues need to find some balance. Near relegation level attacking stats in the league. Leaving Roberts, Kyogo and dare I say it Doyle (who I think offers more creativity than Paik) on the bench to ‘be better off the ball’ is clearly not working.
@dant1875: FORTY-FIVE great British pounds to watch that, I pity all of you who went… Good news is, loads of time left for drinking that one out of your memory #BCFC
@stellytalks: Credit to Dykes, the only player who looked like giving it a go today. Abysmal showing and our away following are leaving understandably disappointed again. That was awful 👍🏽
@dannymas16: You’ve just been promoted into the division, it’s perfectly understandable that an established, play off chasing team will push you to the side like that.
@Kieranbcfc2: Blues fans genuinely have bipolar. Last week we were flying, this week we’re a lower midtable side and the manager should be sacked. Show some calmness, we’re 7 games into the season. The league favourites are sat 17th ffs. Cov are an excellent side. Our season is not gonna be defined by our result 7 games in away at an auto contender. It’s just about being there abouts in Feb. Back the side and give them a chance. Think expectations and last season have people thinking we should win every week. Doesn’t happen for even 4-6th.
@bcfcmaim: with not one single shot on target.
@RobPUSB: £45 to watch us batter youse like that… bargain if you ask me 🤣🤣🤣
@cian_wolsey: People calling for davies’ head need to come back to reality the front runner for the leagues currently sat 17th yet you don’t hear them calling for McKennas head the first 7 games don’t define a season Davies has been the most positive manager we’ve had at the club since 2011-12
Hope it was worth the £45 lads, just let our Doug know if it wasn’t yeah🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 pic.twitter.com/ui1CCoRGet
