At least three people were injured during a shooting at an ICE field office in Dallas on Wednesday morning, a Homeland Security officials tells CBS News.
Two DHS officials told CBS News that a suspected shooter is dead and three people are in critical condition.
Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons confirmed the shooting during an interview on CNN on Wednesday, saying the shooter died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
“It could be employees, it could be civilians that were visiting the facility, it could be detainees,” Lyons said of those who were shot. “At this point, we’re still working through that.”
Texas Department of Transportation cameras near the facility showed a heavy first responder presence with dozens of units.
“While we don’t know motive yet, we know that our ICE law enforcement is facing unprecedented violence against them. It must stop,” Noem said on X.
The facility is located at 8101 N. Stemmons Fwy. in Dallas.
