TIKTOKERS TRAVEL TO TUNIS INSTEAD OF NICE, FRANCE
It is not every day that travelers mix up destinations, but when they do, the internet doesn’t let them forget it. Two travelers went viral last week after they posted a video of themselves discovering that they were not flying to Nice, France, as expected, but instead to Tunis, Tunisia.

In the TikTok posted by Brittney Dzialo, which has been viewed 34.5 million times, the two women are in the aisle of the plane trying to confirm its destination. They laugh after receiving confirmation from the airline crew that the plane isn’t heading to Nice, as amused and annoyed passengers look on. One even clarifies that Tunis is in northern Africa, and the women check the map for its geographical location. They end up traveling to Tunis and then fly to France because their luggage had already been checked in.
As it turns out, the confusion was due to a miscommunication with the airline booking agent, who booked them to Tunis instead of “to Nice.”

AIRLINES SUSPEND EMPLOYEES FOR CHARLIE KIRK POSTS
Multiple U.S. airlines have suspended members of their staff for posting about the shooting of Turning Point USA founder and right-wing activist Charlie Kirk. This follows repercussions faced by workers across industries for posting about the assassination.
American Airlines confirmed in a statement that employees who promoted violence on social media were removed from service. United Airlines sent a memo to its staff about its social media policy and confirmed it has suspended some members. In a statement, it said, “We’ve been clear with our customers and employees that there’s zero tolerance for politically motivated violence or any attempt to justify it.”
Meanwhile, Delta CEO Ed Bastian said in a memo that social media posts from Delta employees have gone beyond “healthy, respectful debate.” “These social posts stand in stark contrast to our values and our social media policy, and these employees have been suspended pending an investigation,” he added.
Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy also posted about airline staff on X, tweeting that “pilots celebrating the assassination of Charlie Kirk” should be fired.
Thank you @united for doing what’s right by placing pilots celebrating the assassination of Charlie Kirk out of service.
They must be fired.
There’s no room for political violence in America and anyone applauding it will face the consequences. ESPECIALLY those we count on to… https://t.co/5Fyw9LAq5q

CRUISE PASSENGER JUMPS OVERBOARD AFTER $16,000 GAMBLING DEBT
A passenger on Royal Caribbean’s Rhapsody of the Seas jumped overboard while the cruise ship was docked in San Juan. Jey Xander Omar Gonzalez-Diaz was rescued from the water by jet skis and taken ashore, where he was arrested. He was carrying more than $10,000 in cash and now faces a federal charge for failing to report the transport of money outside the U.S. The complaint also revealed that Gonzalez-Diaz lost $16,000 while gambling on the ship, but police have not confirmed whether his jump was related to the debt.

WESTJET PLANE MAKES HARD LANDING IN ST. MAARTEN
Another video that went viral last week featured a WestJet plane making a hard landing at St. Maarten’s Princess Juliana International Airport on September 7. Passengers were evacuated from the plane using emergency slides, but no one was injured. Afterward, the airport closed for a day after its only runway was damaged.
The video shows the Boeing 737-800 landing hard on its right gear, with smoke billowing. Emergency services deployed foam to the plane—though there was no fire—while 164 passengers were on board. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada is investigating the incident, as WestJet is a Canadian airline.
St. Maarten’s airport is considered one of the most dangerous in the world. Its runway is just 7,100 feet long and is flanked by mountains on one side.

TOURISTS FACE BAN FROM VENICE FOR SWIMMING IN CANAL
A British man and his Romanian partner learned the hard way that Venice is serious about punishing badly behaved tourists. The couple jumped into the canals near St. Mark’s Square, and gondoliers immediately reported them to the police. After apprehending them, officers fined them €450 each (about $530) and expelled them from the city for 48 hours. The couple returned to the U.K. on the same day they arrived in Venice.
This was the 1,136th expulsion issued this year; about 10 have been for swimming. Jumping into Venice’s canals is illegal, and with the city overwhelmed by overtourism, authorities are cracking down on irresponsible behavior.
