Hangzhou-headquartered Brighteous Law Firm has opened its first overseas branch in Bangkok, Thailand, marking its 10th office in 20 years.

The Bangkok office advises Chinese companies and Zhejiang entrepreneurs based in Thailand on cross-border investment compliance, corporate and intellectual property matters.

The branch is being operated by Yi Xiaoniu, partner and head of the Thailand office, Kathy Cui, Brighteous’ deputy director, and Tian Jingwen, the Thai branch’s general manager.

The office has been set up amid the intensifying growth in China-Thailand economic and trade ties, and Chinese investments to Thailand are steadily increasing.

The Thai market had a growing appetite for law firms familiar with Chinese companies and could handle matters relating to cross-border investments, regulatory compliance and dispute resolution, the firm said.

Chinese law firms have been expanding into Thailand in recent years, and some of the early pioneers are ETR Law Firm (October 2016), Tahota Law Firm (March 2021), Landing Law Offices (April 2021), World Commericial Law Firm (December 2022) and Yingke Law Firm (2023).

The trend has become even more apparent since 2024, with firms – such as Hengdu Law Offices (March), Jingsh Law Firm (June), China Commercial Law Firm (August), Jingheng Law Firm (October), Hansheng Law Offices (October), Zhehang Law Firm (December) and L&Y Law Firm (June 2025) – all establishing offices in Bangkok.
