To maximize your Ultimate Rewards points, here are some great ways to redeem Avios:
- Short-haul domestic flights on American Airlines or Alaska Airlines: You can book flights of up to 650 miles in length, such as New York’s LaGuardia Airport (LGA) to South Carolina’s Charleston International Airport (CHS), for just 13,500 Avios one-way (plus $5.60 in taxes and fees)
- West Coast to Hawaii: You can fly on American Airlines or Alaska Airlines from the West Coast to Hawaii on a nonstop flight for just 22,000 Avios each way (plus $5.60 in taxes and fees), provided the flights are under 3,000 miles in length. One such route is Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) to Hawaii’s Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport at Keahole (KOA), a flight of almost seven hours in length.
- Qatar Airways Qsuite to Doha: A premium sweet spot for anyone looking to fly one of the world’s best business-class cabins, routes from select North American airports to Hamad International Airport (DOH) are available for just 70,000 British Airways Avios (not including taxes and fees), a terrific deal where saver availability exists.
- Nonstop flights to Europe on Aer Lingus: Off-peak flights from the Northeast to Ireland start from just 15,500 Avios each way (not including taxes and fees), which is a terrific price to cross the Atlantic.

Bottom line
Transferring Chase Ultimate Rewards points to British Airways Club at a 1:1 rate is easy, and transfers are usually instant. Avios are a great way to book both domestic flights (including Hawaii) on American Airlines and Alaska Airlines and flights to Europe and beyond on other British Airways partners.
Before transferring your points, always confirm award availability, as, unfortunately, transfers cannot be reversed. We also recommend comparing the cash rate or booking via the Chase Travel portal to the value of redeeming your points through a transfer partner program, as you may get more value out of one booking option over another.
