- Expansion supports growth amid rising demand for AI-ready computing
- Facility will strengthen regional production to support AI and next-generation technologies
Vertiv, a global provider of critical digital infrastructure and continuity solutions, has announced plans to expand its manufacturing footprint in Asia through the establishment of a new manufacturing facility in Johor, Malaysia. Scheduled to be fully operational in the first quarter of 2026, the facility will manufacture a range of Vertiv™ power and thermal management solutions, including coolant distribution units, as well as modular and prefabricated data centre deployment solutions, the company said in a statement.
According to Vertiv, the expansion aligns with the company’s growth and capacity expansion strategy, driven by surging demand for AI-ready, high-density computing infrastructure. The Johor facility will play a pivotal role in strengthening production capabilities to serve customers in fast-growing markets across the region, enabling faster delivery times, expanding capacity, and supporting next-generation technologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning. In addition, Johor’s proximity to Singapore, developed logistics networks and reliable utilities make it an ideal location for scalable technology manufacturing.
“This new facility represents a major milestone in Vertiv’s global manufacturing network. It gives us the scale, flexibility and proximity we need to meet our customers’ needs quickly and reliably,” said Andrew Whall, Vice President of Operations at Vertiv Asia. “It also reflects Vertiv’s continued investment in long-term growth and manufacturing excellence.”
The company is committed to growing and developing its workforce to support the new facility and expects to create up to 500 skilled local jobs over the next three years. The factory will also utilise modern automation technologies, resulting in an efficient and streamlined production environment focused on operational and manufacturing efficiency. This will enable the company to scale rapidly while maintaining quality and environmental responsibility.
“A facility of this importance depends on a highly skilled and engaged workforce, and we are proud to be creating meaningful, high-value jobs in the region that support both our long-term growth and Malaysia’s broader economic ambitions,” Whall added.
