Israeli authorities arrest 513 Palestinians nationwide amid intensified operations targeting undocumented residency and border security threats.
Israeli authorities detained 513 Palestinians residing in Israel without permits over the past week, amid a nationwide campaign to curb unauthorized movement and bolster security, officials said.
The operation, led by the Israeli Border Police, targeted multiple regions across the country, including Jerusalem, northern, central, southern, and coastal sectors. Authorities also focused on individuals suspected of facilitating illegal residency.
Jerusalem accounted for the largest share of arrests, with 391 Palestinians detained alongside 34 suspected accomplices. In a striking incident over the weekend, Border Police apprehended 25 individuals who had crossed the separation barrier from Palestinian territories and were hiding in a factory within the Atarot industrial zone.
Northern and coastal operations resulted in 18 arrests of unauthorized residents and 11 suspects accused of assisting them. In the southern sector, 57 illegal residents and four facilitators were taken into custody, while the central sector saw 47 arrests of undocumented individuals and four alleged aides.

Israeli officials described the operations as part of ongoing efforts to monitor and control illegal residency, emphasizing the country’s commitment to security and law enforcement. Authorities highlighted stricter measures along the separation barrier and in urban areas with significant Palestinian populations.
Beyond residency violations, investigations are targeting networks that allegedly assist Palestinians in evading border controls. Temporary hiding sites, such as the Jerusalem factory, illustrate the methods employed by those seeking to avoid detection.
Security analysts note that the heightened enforcement reflects Israel’s dual aim of preventing potential security threats and addressing demographic and legal concerns tied to undocumented residency. Similar crackdowns have been reported in recent months, indicating a sustained policy approach rather than an isolated operation.
These arrests underscore ongoing tensions between Israel and the Palestinian territories, highlighting the challenges of managing cross-border movement in sensitive regions. Observers say the scale of the operation signals Israel’s determination to maintain control over unauthorized entry while sending a clear message to networks facilitating illegal residency.
As authorities continue their efforts, the situation is likely to remain a focal point in broader discussions on security, migration, and regional stability.
