- Partnership aims to nurture future engineering & design talent
- Parties will collaborate to strengthen practical engineering capabilities aligned with industry needs
Dassault Systèmes has announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding with Taylor’s University and IME Technology to implement the Solidworks SkillForce programme in Malaysia. This marks a significant step towards empowering the next generation of engineering and design talent and underscores the growing momentum of Solidworks SkillForce across the globe, the company noted in a statement.
Solidworks SkillForce is Dassault Systèmes’ global initiative designed to bridge the gap between education and industry by equipping students with certified Solidworks skills and providing access to professional-grade tools for internships and early-career opportunities.
Under this MoU, the three organisations will work closely to advance Malaysia’s talent development agenda by strengthening practical engineering capabilities aligned with industry needs. Taylor’s University will play a central role in delivering Solidworks training and preparing students for the Certified Solidworks Associate certification, ensuring they are equipped with the technical skills required for internship and early-career success. The university will also support student enrolment into the Solidworks SkillForce programme, creating a seamless pathway from classroom learning to real-world application.
Complementing this effort, IME Technology will develop an induction programme that provides students with essential Solidworks knowledge and workplace-readiness skills, helping them transition confidently into professional environments.
“Taylor’s University is committed to developing future-ready graduates for Malaysia’s digital and innovation economy. Through this collaboration with Dassault Systèmes and IME Technology, our students will gain access to industry-standard tools, global certifications, and real-world experience that strengthen their employability,” professor Dr. Sim Yee Wei, executive dean, Faculty of Innovation & Technology, Taylor’s University, said.
“As a long-standing Solidworks partner, we are committed to strengthening practical engineering skills in Malaysia. This MoU supports our shared goal of building a strong talent pipeline for the nation’s growing innovation economy,” Teoh Jia Yuan, executive vice president, IME Technology, said.
Meanwhile, Sharon Toh, vice president, Asia Pacific South, Dassault Systèmes, said: “Solidworks has always been about empowering people to innovate. Today, innovation is about cultivating the right mindset and capabilities to thrive in a world shaped by rapid technological shifts.”
“As Malaysia moves towards a generative, technology-driven economy, engineers and designers will need the ability to connect the virtual and real worlds, leverage advanced technologies, and contribute to more sustainable, human-centric solutions. By working with Taylor’s University and IME, we aim to prepare Malaysia’s next generation of talent with the skills, certifications, and practical experiences needed to succeed in this new era,” she added.
Dassault Systèmes stated that since its introduction earlier this year, Solidworks SkillForce has expanded rapidly to 53 countries, drawing more than 2,500 applications and equipping over 250 selected students with future-ready skills. The addition of Malaysia marks another milestone in the programme’s mission to nurture innovators across the globe.
