According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Saint Joseph’s head coach Billy Lange is expected to leave the Hawks to join the New York Knicks’ Coaching Staff ahead of the 2025-26 season. In six seasons with Saint Joe’s, Lange amassed a record of 81-104 overall, 38-64 in Atlantic 10 play. Highlights of Lange’s tenure at SJU include an appearance in the 2024 Atlantic 10 semifinals, back-to-back championships in the Big 5 Classic, and consecutive NIT appearances in 2024 and 2025.
Via Jon Rothstein, Steve Donahue will step in as the interim head coach of SJU. Donahue was hired as the associate HC of the Hawks on May 10th, and has previously served as the head coach of Cornell, Boston College, and Penn with an overall record of 331-344.
UPDATE 3:06 EST: Via press release, SJU has named Donahue the permanent head coach of the Hawks.
