Dallas Wings superstar guard Paige Bueckers ended her phenomenal rookie season on a fantastic note, posting 24 points, eight rebounds and seven assists in a 97-76 win over the Phoenix Mercury.
Bueckers finished the night ranked third alone on the all-time rookie assist list with 194, surpassing Sue Bird (191). In addition, Bueckers is now third on the all-time rookie points list with 692, passing Las Vegas Aces center A’ja Wilson during the evening.
Dallas took a 57-47 halftime lead thanks in part to Bueckers, who scored 15 points while dishing four assists and grabbing four rebounds by the break. That scoring effort included this clutch three right before the half.
Dallas outscored Phoenix 25-13 in the third quarter for an 82-60 lead going into the fourth. The Wings cruised from there to close out the season with a win.
It’s been a brutal year for the Wings, who finished the season tied for last in the WNBA with a 10-34 record.
However, Bueckers provides great hope for a brighter future, as evidenced by a dominant outing against a 27-17 Mercury team that earned the WNBA’s No. 4 playoff seed.
